Are My Struggles Hurting My Testimony?

Are My Struggles Hurting My Testimony?

Sometimes I feel like a hot-mess Christian.

I beat myself up because there seems to always be at least one thing wrong or challenging in my life. Why can’t I meet with a friend for once and not have any kind of struggle to confess?

But the Lord is so kind to those like me who feel stressed out and anxious about our situations. When I’m feeling defeated he so gently reminds me it’s not my situation that determines my faith – it’s how I react to those situations that will inspire or encourage others in the Lord.

The Secret to Overcoming Shame

The Secret to Overcoming Shame

Does your heart ever flutter and sink at the same moment?

When I receive a genuine compliment, all too often that’s the response I have. My soul leaps for joy from their love, but a small voice tries to suppress it and tell me I’m not worthy of such high remarks.

“You are a good and faithful servant!” one of my dearest friends, a godly woman I look up to, told me as I shared my mission trip photos.

If she only knew of all the struggles I’ve gone through before and after that picture was taken.

There seemed to be more days than not that I would beat myself up for not putting Christ first and others above me.

Surely she would take back that compliment if she knew how little I was getting into the word that week.
